Our Wonderful Wedding Day
It has been exactly one month since we said our vows, and I am finally getting around to writing about it.
You hear people say their wedding day was perfect or disastrous or memorable? Our wedding day was absolutely wonderful. From beginning to end, I could not have asked for a better day.
The day before our wedding, right before leaving for the rehearsal dinner,my handsome groom is signing his name on our marriage license. we each signed the initial copy twice. Once before, once after. Mr. Bojangles is making an appearance as well.
I started off my morning with a cup of Starbucks coffee. I asked them to write bride on the side of the cup, but they wrote it on the lid instead.
My sister and matron of honor getting her hair done after a long drive out to the lakehouse. We left really early so we could start the day at the lakehouse, get our hair done, and relax before the ceremony at three.
I even managed to have a moment to sew the very last detail on my wedding dress: the clasp at the top of the back. It was an exhilarating moment to realize I was finally finished with months and months of sewing, agonizing, and working to create my wedding dress.
Andrew and I said our vows at 3pm at the bottom of the hill of my parent's lake house. It was beautiful, bright, and warm outside. Everything was wonderful.
A family friend, Scarlett Hendricks captured a few amazing pictures throughout the day. I love the special moments she got! We had a photographer as well, and soon those pictures will be shown to my followers.
I went to the top of the hill to fix my bustle, with the help of my loving sister.
My groom and I standing aside to take our wedding portraits.
Dried flower petals were thrown on us as we walked toward the dock to leave.
Our flower girl and ring bearer standing still for a brief moment to capture a photo.
Her dress turned out so well! She looked like a little princess.
With my dad driving the boat, Andrew and I cruised into our future.
My groom and I dancing at our reception to "Rise Up" by Ben Lee, and performed by Legato Stone, our wedding band. They played covers all night, and we heard nothing but good things about how much fun everyone had. It was perfect!!
Throughout our reception, we danced, sang, laughed, smiled, and felt so loved by everyone surrounding us. All of the little details I worked on for months came together on this magical day. It was all 100% worth all of the hard work.
After the wedding, we had a week to unpack, repack, and recover just in time to leave for our honeymoon!
Even Mr. Bojangles wanted to come along for the trip. He was not happy about us leaving, but we left him in good hands with my new in laws.
Though our flight got delayed, we left on Good Friday, a good Friday to leave indeed. We relaxed and set sail on our cruise to Key West and Cozumel for 5 days, with a short vacation in Miami to follow.
By the time the trip was over, I was overloaded by the enormous quantities of tasty treats, and ready to come home and begin my routine and life with my new husband and partner for life.
My sister, Sarah photographed this shot of me during my bridals session.
It is my absolute favorite of my wedding dress because it captures the movement and moments I spent creating it. I will cherish every second of the process forever, and through the wonderful people in my life, I will remember how blessed I am every day.
