46 Days to Go - Shower Gifts: Part Two

Aprons for Hostess Gifts

Remember the wine sleeves I created for the hosts of our couple's shower?

I still had this portion of the shirt left over, and I had the wonderful plan of creating aprons, and making the most of the shirt!

This first shirt was my practice one, and since it matches my future kitchen, I decided to make it to keep myself.

First, I cut off the back of the shirt at the seams on the side, and then around the collar.

Then I cut straight underneath the collar so there was a straight line.
I was originally going to keep the original armholes, but since it was a little too wide at the top, I cut a curved line to make the top smaller.

I pinned the buttoned area, and sewed two straight stitches on either side to keep it closed.

 Here comes the fun part...

Double Folded Bias Tape! It is magical and it can be used for many different things, seemingly.

This color goes perfectly with the stripes...

I pinned like no one's business around the top, cutting a strip just for the collar edge.
Then I sewed two straight stitches along the sides.

Luckily, this was a practice run, because instead of using two pieces of bias tape, I cut four... then came to realize it was unnecessary.

Had I cut two, I would've only needed one for the collar, and one to run along the edges.

Overall, it was a lovely project, both simple, and practical.
I ended up making three more for the wonderful hostesses of my bridal shower. They loved them!

I used mine last night for meal prep! So fun :-)
